FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • How do I get help?

Most of the food that the Food Bank distributes goes to member agencies in the local community. Please click here for a list of food closets in each community.

We also have weekly produce distributions in Woodland, Davis, and West Sacramento. See Friday’s Table for more information.

  • How can I help?

The Food Bank relies on the generosity of community members who donate, volunteer, and organize to support our work. Visit these pages in the Make a Difference section of our site to learn more, and thank you!

  • What are the best foods to donate?

We are happy to receive any donation, but some items are in higher demand than others. Most needed items include: Tuna/Canned Meat, Peanut Butter, Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Canned Fruit, Canned Vegetables, Cereal, Fruit Juice, Rice, & Canned Soup. Click here for a flyer with more information.

  • Where can I drop off food donations?

The Food Bank accepts food donations year-round from individuals, manufacturers, retailers, and growers.

  • How many people does the Food Bank serve?

Through our network of 60 partner agencies, we serve approximately 20,000 individuals each month- about 10% of the population of Yolo County. As the face of hunger changes, we are seeing more working poor, seniors on a fixed income, and newly unemployed in need of help.

  • Do you accept hot food?

Unfortunately due to food safety considerations we cannot accept hot food.

  • How do I volunteer at the Food Bank?

We are fortunate to welcome hundreds of volunteers who contribute thousands of hours each year. To join us, please contact our Volunteer & Food Drive Coordinator, Sophia Sandoval, at (530) 668-0690 x105 or sophia@foodbankyc.org, or click here for more information.
