Calvary Chapel Zamora

The Food Bank of Yolo County (FBYC) is proud to partner with more than 60 agencies that provide vital services to residents throughout our community. In recognition of our community partners, we will shine the spotlight on one of the agencies we support each month in hopes of raising awareness about the many organizations who work diligently to meet the needs of others. During the month of March, we’re pleased to devote our Agency Spotlight to Calvary Chapel Zamora (CCZ) in Zamora, CA.
Originally called the Dunnigan Christian Community, the organization relocated and changed its name. They began their food closet in April of 2012 to help those in need in their rural community.
In addition to the food closet in Zamora, the ministry continues to distribute food to the Dunnigan community on a bi-monthly basis. Each month they deliver about 30 boxes of groceries that include non-perishables, bread and produce to families at the RV Park. CCZ operates a jail ministry that provides bible study for those who are incarcerated.
CCZ depends on volunteers from their congregation, to help with the need of pack boxes, shop at FBYC and distribute food to clients. CCZ became a partner agency of the Food Bank in April 2012. Nora, who leads the food closet operation, says, “Without the Food Bank we would not been able to provide the amount of food that we need to be successful.”
Each month, CCZ serves 75 to 80 people through their distribution and food closet. Nora, told us about a mother of three who received assistance through the ministry. The woman had just become a single mother after her husband of 18 years had left. The ministry was able to offer her assistance with food and expenses until she could get back on her feet.
Calvary Chapel Zamora can benefit from an increased support from the community. For more information about how you can volunteer, make a donation or learn about its programs and services please contact Nora Bauer at: 530-867-2692.
